Robert Vano was born in 1948 in Nové Zámky in the Slovak Republic. In 1967, he wanted to avoid the obligatory military service and emigrated to USA. In New York he experienced several occupations and, finally, a job in a hairdressing salon became the fatal one. Gradually, he proceeded from washing hair to the work of a hairdresser, and began to cooperate with the most famous fashion photographers. In 1984, he made the most important step of his career and began to take photos himself. He gained place among famous photographers very soon, and his work appeared in all the most prestigious fashion magazines. He became well-known mainly for his male acts. Till today, he has held tenths of successful exhibitions all over the world, and a great amount of published monographs form a representative profile
of his whole work.
